Event signage: Above are signs from the 2011 International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. This year I worked on TiVo's advertising that appeared outside the IBC event as well as the booth design and meeting room artwork. For more photos please see the blog post.
TiVo ad campaign: Here is an idea I came up with during a visit to New York in early 2009. TiVo needed a way to express it's brand with the same passion people use when they speak about the video content they love. The concept stands on the shoulders of the great design giants Michael Cronan and Milton Glaser. Working with the copywriter and creative director, we refined the idea to work for the four categories of TV, Movie, Music and Web content that TiVo supports.
The campaign won an American Inhouse Design Award from Graphic Design USA magazine and was published in the 2011 American Inhouse Awards Design Annual. See more.
Premiere campaign signage: This is a large 55'x20' vinyl billboard I designed during a TiVo product launch in the spring of 2010. The look needed to be aggressively bold to cut-through day-to-day advertising and show that big things were happening associated with the launch of TiVo Premiere. Our creative director wrote the really cool headlines and came up with the rings concept. View more.
HD XL Brochure: In the fall of 2008, I worked on the launch of the TiVo HD XL DVR. Panels shown above are from a brochure outlining TiVo's one terabyte model. The brochure was laid out using InDesign.
The concept's reach was successful. Many competitors started to use our XL acronym in their product names. The HD XL model has seen good sales results and it sold out of inventory for one point in 2009.

Holiday 2009: For this seasonal creative I worked with TiVo's creative director to concept, brand, and design the look of an integrated marketing campaign. J. Otto Seibold was commissioned to do the illustrations.
Sales increased more than predicted. Only half of the campaign's emails were released due to inventory limits. Clockwise from upper left: homepage Flash piece, holiday branding style guide, email, and print ad.
Online video logos: These are four logo variations made to represent videos viewed online. Each logo approaches the concept from a different angle: colorbars, download icon, play button or a video clapper board integrated with typography to convey the idea.
Staycation Sweepstakes: This online contest included a grand prize of a living room makeover endorsed by a spokesperson from HGTV. Along with the Staycation logo, the project included two landing pages. The number of email addresses collected during the sweepstakes was more than three times the predicted goal.
Hotwire marketing materials: Designing in-house for a discount travel web site, I worked on brand style guide development, entry page marketing, online marketing, travel offer emails and search engine optimization projects. Pictured above are a print design for 2008 Entertainment coupon book and the rebate landing page which went along with the offer.

Film festival project: These designs are from a film festival identity system completed during the Academy of Art University's graduate program. The overall concept came from researching Paul Thomas Anderson's movies. Vivid Dysfunction represents the visual beauty and dysfunctional themes of Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love. Clockwise from left: 33"x44" poster design, environmental signage, and festival branding style guide.
Typographic animation: Above is an animated storyline about the shadow people phenomenon. I use typography and music to illustrate a discussion on shadow-like figures which appear in the real world. Search for information about them on Google. It's sure to raise the hair on your neck.
Restaurant menu: This dinner menu for an Italian restaurant was created using InDesign. The olive branch in the La Cucina logo was drawn in Illustrator. La Cucina is Italian for "The Kitchen". On the right is a close-up of the inside of the menu.

RandomSF.com & RandomNY.com: In 2005, I began a personal design project documenting San Francisco through photography. The project is an exploration into visual randomness. All of the images were taken at random angles without setting up the locations or even looking through the camera's viewfinder. Images are displayed in random order to further randomize the experience. The project later spread from San Francisco to also include New York City.
Pictured above is a small sampling of work. To schedule a full portfolio viewing please get into contact.
